Jeffrey Wright is a musician, singer, songwriter and the founder of the group, The Way Backs. His love of music has grown over the years growing from the deep roots of music from generation to generation.
Classic Country has always had a place in his life. Growing up, his family would spend hours playing music together. Learning old classic's from Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, John Denver, Willy Nelson and more. His playing had led him to perform with the Great Northern Opry on multiple occasions and many solo shows. With music pulsing through him, Jeffrey Ivan Wright took every opportunity to play for a crowd, landing him, his dad, and daughter on the front page of the August 24th issue of Sault This Week in 2021. A career gaining momentum. Jeffrey wrote his first song "Mustang Home" around the age of fifteen inspired by the real life struggles of those living on the streets. Since then, he has gone to write many more country songs including: "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson", "I'm Begging You Please", and "Reach for Me (My Son)". Although, music is not his only passion. Jeffrey Ivan Wright is an established landscape oil painter, selling many of his pieces across Canada. You can check it out at www.creativewrights.ca |
Jaime Jacques is a graduate of the Sault College and Lakehead University Forestry programs and holds numerous professional certificates, including a designation as a Registered Professional Forester. Jaime has been playing drums for 15 years, and has written, composed and recorded music featured on CBC Radio programming.
When Jaime is not working in the woods or spending time with his wife Sarah, you may find him restoring vintage drums and providing drums for several local bands around town. He works closely with Jeffrey Wright to bring new and exciting projects through the band and The Way Backs. He dedicates himself to growing in his talent to create unforgettable experiences. |
Marshall Jaaskelainen is as unique as they come. We asked him to write to us his own bio for the website. This is what he came up with:
A musician sired by musician who can trace his lineage back beyond Mozart. His musical talents captivate and liberate his audience. A true virtuoso, he has amazed multitudes across the globe. He creates a sound so beautiful it can entice Angels back to earth. A true master bassist – the one, the only, Marshall Jaaskelainen. You may recognize some of that from the movie, A Knights Tale. He is a dedicated bass player with exceptional talent. When he isn't playing bass he is trying to find new groups to play for. Always seeking out ways to stay busy as a musician. |

He continued his musical journey by doing television, radio, and recording. In 1983 he hit the road with his band Buckshot. He also toured with the Road Fever band until he came home and played locally. George now plays engagements with his son and granddaughter and some single shows. He has enjoyed a very fulfilling career and continues to enjoy his music.

Chelsea Vossos - Is a mother of two who was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. As a child, she would often listened to her mothers singing that filled her home when practicing for their church choir. Chelsea feels this is what led to her love for singing. In addition to performing with The Way Backs in the production of Hurt: A Tribute to the Legend, Johnny Cash as June Carter/June Carter Cash, she occasionally performs other gigs with Jeffery Wright when he can convince her to do so in public.

Meggy Lee - Grew up singing in church and found her passion for performing through participating in various theatre productions in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. In high school, she learned to play guitar and was a lead singer in two different bands. Meggy is now a single mom, returning to performing after about 6 years offstage, and writing her own songs for the first time. She is working to build a career from her passions of making music, fostering connection and community, and keeping old tunes alive.
